A Longing Fulfilled

#85: Jeff Street once a month.
I am so excited to tell you about this month's visit to Jeff Street!!!

So, when Tom and I are there volunteering, someone usually shows up to serve lunch for the folks visiting the day shelter. It's usually a group from one of the local churches, or a group of students from the seminary or Boyce College. Well, for months, we've been wanting to get a group together from Crossing to go serve lunch, and yesterday we finally got our chance. Our community group partnered with another group, and together we were able to dish up about 200 hot dog plates!

It was a great day. Not only did we get to serve food, but one of the Crossing guys was able to share his testimony, which led to some good Gospel conversations with some of the guests. Hopefully there will be many more opportunities like this in the future.

Here is a perfect example of Gospel change, people. On my own, I never would have dreamed of getting up early on a Saturday morning to go serve food to a bunch of people, mostly strangers. But that is how the Gospel works; God gives us the desire to do that which pleases Him, and through Christ He gives us the strength and the opportunities to go out and do it. And sometimes you even enjoy yourself in the process!
